CHAPTER THIRTEEN
I woke up to pounding on my door.
"Ange its Marco, wake the fuck up you're late."
I sprung from the mattress and rubbed my face, Oh my god what happened?
I glanced beside me, Tino was gone. I looked around for a note, nothing.
I was disappointed to say the least, we had spent an amazing night together and he left like a thief in the night. Maybe he was too drunk to remember or maybe I was a one night stand?
My stomach turned, I could never face him again if I was a random hook up because he was in the mood.
I pulled my legs to my chest, I didn't know how I could handle that. In reality I had no choice. I was here regardless and no matter how much I wouldn't want to see him, I would have to.
I pressed my forehead against my knees and sighed. What the fuck was I thinking? I knew I was digging myself a hole I couldn't get out of. It was easy to dig deeper rather than climb out. It was better to see what was at the bottom, rather than give up and get out.
No one had really briefed me on how to act, I was told that my name was Angela Passerotta, I was an orphan. I didn't finish high school and I had a few run ins with the cops before I turned 18. I had a boyfriend who turned me out and I ran away to be under mafia protection to escape him. Nice and simple.
"Angela open the fucking door and get your ass out here. Everyone's asking where you are and no one's cooking the damn bacon." He growled and kicked the door, I knew when Marco became angry like this it was because he was hungry.
"Coming Marco, I'm sorry I'll be right out to make your breakfast."
"Okay." He said in a small, thankful voice.
I threw on whatever I could find, stretchies and a big shirt seemed perfect. I slipped into my slipper boots and opened the door.
Marco had his forehead pressed against the wall, he looked tired and hung over. I grabbed him by the arm and began dragging him toward the kitchen.
When we reached the doorway, I was greeted with a mess.
"WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?!" I asked as I ran my hand over the counter that was completely covered in flour. There were broken eggs on the floor and no one seemed to know their ass from their elbow.
I pressed my thumb and pointer into the bridge of my nose and closed my eyes. 1, 2, 3 Angela 1..2.. 3.... I took a deep breath and relaxed.
"Ok, Bacon, eggs, toast, grape fruit. Nice and simple today. Everyone knows what they're good at, grab what you can and make it. I'll do the eggs."
Marco smiled and licked his lips when he heard eggs. He was always hungry, I could feed him the dinner portion for a small family and he'd still come back looking for dessert.
